Short Black Opera
It is not just about singing, but about reaffirming cultural aspiration and connections to country
My daughter was embraced by a cultural celebration of her people, was given an opportunity to tell her story as a young Indigenous person with her own voice, in a culturally safe space.
To see children singing with such pride and confidence, with a strong connection to culture brought a tear to many eyes including mine… a once in a lifetime opportunity that will never be forgotten
I can see the pleasure on all the children’s faces, to have the opportunity to meet other families and children and to share our hope and the love of our culture
To see our daughter come out of her shell and embrace Aboriginal language and stories with song… has been a life changing experience for her as well as us, as a family
